Heating Up In The Northwest This Weekend

    1 day ago Alan Smith

A strong ridge of high pressure will push into the Northwest this weekend, resulting in the first major heatwave of the season for the Interior Northwest, Great Basin, and Northern California. The pattern over the Southwest & Southern Rockies will quiet down somewhat compared to recent days, but enough lingering moisture will still lead to daily thunderstorm activity.

    A Ho-Hum Summer

    1 day ago Matthew Platt

Well..... it's finally here. The most unfortunate time of year with no snow and no prospects of any snow in the future. These days, I catch up on housework, travel a lot, and sneak a peek at the models once a month. The extended Euro model was just released, and the latest ENSO forecast is interesting. Let's dig in because what else is there to do this time of year?!

Final Post of the 2024-2025 Season

    1 month ago Alan Smith

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

Final Post of the 2024-2025 Season

    1 month ago Powderchaser Steve

This will be my final chase powder post for the 24/25 season. It has been an epic season in many areas, including northern Vermont and many northern/Central Rockies, Sierra, and Alaska spots. La Niña delivered as forecasted. Next Season will be deep somewhere! It is always deep on the Chase Powder Forecast. This post recaps the season for 24/25.
