A narrow band of snow (We call these Deformation zones) will set up over northern Colorado Friday night and move from east to west Saturday. These are hard to predict with any deviation of track. This Saturday, the most likely chase spots will range from north of I-70 in Colorado and areas from Sundance in Utah to the I-80 Corridor. This wave will drag over southern California later this weekend.

The next storm will deliver 5-10+ inches of snow from Friday night through Sunday night to the northern part of the northern mountains, with lower amounts near and south of I-70. This means that Saturday and maybe Sunday could offer powder at Steamboat, Cameron Pass, and Eldora. Following this storm, the southern mountains should see snow next week, and a stormier pattern could start in February.

A storm will work its way into the Rockies from the north this weekend and will stall out over the Southwest through early next week with snow favoring Colorado, and to a lesser extent, Southern California and the Southwest U.S. The East will see a gradual warming trend with snow continuing to favor the Great Lakes region. The Northwest will finally start to see some snow at the end of the month.
