A cold airmass will settle over Eastern North America with lake effect snow showers expected this weekend and into early next week. Deep totals are expected in some areas of Michigan and Western New York, while Northern Vermont will also do well. The Western U.S. will enter an extended dry period as the storm track lifts into Northern British Columbia.

A NW flow developed as expected, bringing colder air and snow showers across NW and SW Montana’s mountains. As of 8 AM Thanksgiving, an inch fell overnight at Big Sky, Whitefish, Disco, and Lookout. Another pulse on Friday could add similar accumulations across the mountains along and north of I-90. Dry, cool, and cloudy this weekend as the ridge builds, then becomes warmer next week.

Precipitation is approaching New England on Thursday morning. Several inches of wet snow are likely to favor central regions of Vermont and New Hampshire and extend into northern Maine. Areas along the coast will see rain mixed with snow, changing to all rain by mid-morning. The Extended for the West looks a bit boring.
