Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Colorado Daily Snow

Skiing and riding is mighty fun and likely more enjoyable than most other things you could do with your time. That's the positive side.

The negative side is that there will be no more snow for Colorado during the month of November as the storm that was going to bring snow on Monday is now forecasted to miss Colorado to the north and east. We'll see colder temperatures on Monday and maybe a few light snow showers for areas north of I-70, but both the American GFS and European models now agree that most of the storm energy will stay away from Colorado.

Storm misses Colorado

The next chance of snow appears to be next-next weekend, sometime around December 2nd. I wish I had better news, but that's the best I can do. I still have no idea how December will shape up and what the rest of the season holds.

I did take a look at some historical snow statistics for ski areas around Colorado, though I have to admit that my sample size is small since there's no good resource for finding this data so many of the numbers are scaped together from various sources. That said, it seems like 2-4 seasons over the past 30 years have had this little snowfall in November, so that's about 5-15% of the seasons. Of those seasons with little snowfall, about half of them turned out average and half of them turned out well below average. Even though we have an awful start, it's still 50/50 whether we make up for it during the season or suffer through another low snow year.

So there's hope, and that's something to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!
