VIDEO: Jeremy Jones' Higher
I saw this movie over the weekend in Aspen, Colorado and was blown away.
This is not just another ski film.
The cinematography is the best I've ever seen.
The sound is the best I've ever heard. This might not seem like a big deal, but the use of on-person mics allowed us to hear Jeremy talking to himself as he climbed and descended some very scary lines. It provided an intimate window into his state of mind.
The story telling is sensational, with mapping and graphics that helped me as a viewer understand exactly what the team was doing and what they were thinking.
And last but not least, this movie showcases emotions rather than hiding them. What Jeremy and other professional mountain atheletes do is dangerous and scary, and this is discussed in the film.
If you can, go watch this film. I haven't seen another ski movie of this quality for a long time, or perhaps ever.
