Progress, Weekend Forecast, Hopeful Extended

Arizona ski areas making progress with a pair of systems that have delivered modest snow totals. Sunrise checking in near a foot and Snowbowl a bit less as of this Friday 12/1 update. A bit more Friday night then quiet with models hinting at a potential cutoff low in the extended forecast.

Short Term Forecast

Snow showers will persist for Sunrise Park into pre dawn hours Saturday, there will be fresh powder to be had Saturday morning. Otherwise the storm quickly exits sunrise Saturday leaving a gradually sunny and chilly afternoon behind. Strong high pressure builds across the West Sunday into next week leading to tranquil days and a sharp warming trend.

Extended Forecast

If you have been following along I've been a bit discouraged with a quiet pattern being advertised into mid December, while hoping for a flip in model solutions. I am now encouraged to report that latest model output from both the GFS and Euro are picking up on the potential for a cutoff low to develop across the Southwest next weekend time frame 12/9 ish and stick around for a few days. This has the potential to be the storm to kick this season into gear, stay tuned.
