Sunday will be another beautiful day!

Temperatures will move lower on Monday along with an arrival of snowfall in the morning. Temperatures will be absolutely frigid for this time of year with freezing levels moving from 9k+ feet on Sunday down to around 4k feet on Monday. We will see freezing levels down around 4k and lower (possibly down into Boise on Wednesday) for the duration of the week.

Monday will see showers through the day and into Tuesday morning. Amounts look modest (for this time of year) with about 0.75 inches of liquid forecasted on the NAM12k for Bogus and the northern resorts. At a 10:1 snow to liquid ratio we can expect between 5-8 inches for Bogus and the surrounding area from Monday through Tuesday morning. I think Tamarack and Brundage areas will yield similar numbers. 

The GFS then brings in another round of snow from the southwest on Wednesday mid-day. Models are showing moisture wrapping around the backside of the low and bringing some good northwest flow into the West mountains (Tamarack/Brundage) from late Wednesday into Thursday. Bogus can also do really well with a set-up like this so keep an eye on that snow stake!

The GFS overall has a really good look for some solid snow on the ground when Bogus opens on Wednesday with anywhere from 10-20 inches of fresh on the slopes. Check out the total precipitation forecasted through Friday:

For those of you who are doing backcountry, I think this is going to be a great week of riding. I would look for the best days to be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Especially Thursday if we can get that northwest flow cranking. Bogus should have a pretty impressive powder day on Friday (they are only open Friday-Sunday for the remainder of the season). 

Models are indicating that the cold weather and trough will move east after this week. We will be high and dry for the foreseeable future:

Not surprising at all considering it will be late April by the time the above forecast comes to fruition. What an amazing year!!!

The above graphic says it all! 2022/2023 absolutely was the best year in my life as far as riding quality snow in Idaho. Catching multiple powder days at Sun Valley was a dream come true and getting to experience a 20+ inch storm at Bogus in late March was just the icing on the cake. This is most definitely my final forecast unless we get a mid-winter storm in May (surely winter isn't that crazy right?!).
