Friday - Sunday

We'll end our latest round of snow with 2-7 inches along the I-70 mountain corridor. My final forecast coming into Wednesday night called for 3-7 inches so right in the zone.

We'll now receive dry conditions under mostly sunny skies from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon.

There will be a few snow showers popping up on Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon across southern Colorado but I'm not expecting these to do much up here in northern Colorado.

Clearing skies on Thursday night dropped temps below 0°F on Friday morning and we'll remain under chilly conditions through the weekend. Temps will rise into the teens to low 20s each day and drop into the low single-digits to even below 0°F each night. Very cold for mid-March.

Travel Forecast

Dry road surfaces will remain in place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Expect normal travel speeds outside of typical weekend traffic from Friday morning through Sunday evening.

Wet and slick road surfaces could then return on Monday and into Tuesday but I'm not expecting travel impacts until Wednesday, March 22. Expect off-and-on icy, slushy, and snow-packed road surfaces through at least Sunday, March 26.

We're entering that time of year when the higher sun angle really begins to be our friend in regards to clearing snowy road surfaces during the midday hours. Heavy snowfall rates can still overcome this higher sun angle so always remember to take it slow and give yourself extra travel time while driving during storm cycles.

Monday & Beyond

Following the quiet weekend, the storm train will ramp back during the week of March 20 and keep the party going through at least the end of March. Yet another atmospheric river will begin to influence our weather beginning on Monday, initially bringing waves of light snow on Monday and into Tuesday ahead of better chances for heavy snow around Wednesday, March 22 and into Thursday, March 23.

Looking further ahead, we'll likely see another stormy period around March 25-26 and yes, yet another stormy period around Wednesday, March 29. It's the season that keeps on giving.
