Storm for Saturday Night - Sunday...

Update

The chain controls dropped early Wednesday morning as the roads became just wet.

Drier Weather:

We are expecting drier weather through Thursday. A weak system Thursday night could bring rain showers over Donner Summit so no travel issues expected. Then drier weather again Friday - Saturday.

The Weekend Storm:

A stronger storm moves in later Saturday afternoon into the evening. The storm is expected to begin as rain over Donner Summit, but snow levels lower Saturday night with rain changing to snow around late evening. Expecting the snow to continue through Sunday with snow showers lingering into Sunday night. Snow levels continue to lower.

This storm could bring a decent amount of snow to the Sierra. Chain controls will start just over the top of Donner Summit from around Soda Springs to Donner Lake earlier Saturday night but could drop to Blue Canyon to Truckee by Sunday morning. Then possibly a bit lower by Sunday afternoon. Expect winter driving conditions and possible delays on Sunday.

Next Week:

We could see scattered snow showers for Monday with a chance for more snow on Tuesday. Monday we may not see a lot of travel issues, a better chance Tuesday if the storm pushes this far south. We will continue to watch the trend, but be prepared for winter driving conditions if you plan to travel through the Sierra Monday - Tuesday.

Expecting a drier pattern starting Wednesday.
