The dry pattern lasts through Saturday.

Sunday Storm:

Snow is expected to push back into the region Sunday. The latest model runs show snow reaching Donner Pass between 4-6 AM. We could see some steadier snow showers Sunday morning and then more scattered Sunday afternoon/evening before clearing out Sunday night.

We could see several inches of new snow by Sunday evening. Snow levels start out around 4000-4500 ft. and could fall to 3000 ft. by Sunday evening. That is low in elevation with snow possibly accumulating on the roads over a long stretch from the foothills all the way through the Sierra to Nevada.

Even though this isn't a big storm, the cold nature with snow to low levels could cause travel headaches with slow travel and chain controls from around Dutch Flat all the way to the NV state line through Sunday evening. Conditions start to improve Monday, but slowly as it's cold which will make melting of the snow on the roads more difficult.

Long-Range:

A drier pattern sets up again starting Monday through Thursday the 2nd.

The pattern could become more active again starting around the 3rd, but the storms look fairly week on the latest model runs through the 9th.

We'll continue to watch the trends as we get closer with more details on potential travel impacts.
