Final Forecast for the Season Includes Some Snow...

Summary

Rain & snow shower chances increase by Monday evening and continue through Friday evening, especially during the afternoon-evening hours. The unsettled pattern could last into the weekend. Then a drier pattern is expected next week through at least mid-month.

Update

This will be the final forecast for the 2022-23 ski season. Of course, after a huge snowfall season, we are finishing with a forecast for a chance of rain & snow showers each day through the first week of May.

Snow Is Possible the First Week of May:

By late afternoon/evening Monday through Friday night the 4th, a cut-off/closed low-pressure system wobbles slowly south through California. That will bring us a chance for rain and snow showers through the period, with the best chance for showers being each afternoon-evening.

Snow will likely not stick to the roads during the daytime hours except maybe Tuesday if see some heavier bands of snow move through, but carry chains just in case. The best chance for chain controls looks to be Monday night & Tuesday night, and again Thursday night.

Carry chains and be prepared for possible slick roads and chain controls along with slower travel through the Sierra.

Long-Range:

The unsettled pattern with afternoon-evening showers could continue through the 7th of May. Beyond that, the pattern could become drier.
