Thursday morning is a powder day!

Storm #1: Thursday morning pow

The storm came in as expected on Wednesday evening and Wednesday night and snow totals were just above my forecasted 3-6 inch range. The mid-mountain report is 7 inches and the summit snow stake cam shows 7-8 inches. Due to warm temperatures during this storm, the powder will be thicker and surfy. Enjoy! Lingering snow showers will end by mid-morning.

Storm #2: Friday & Saturday

No change to the forecast for this storm. We should see a break in the snowfall on Thursday afternoon, though snow showers could hit now and again on Thursday evening and Friday morning. The better chance for snow will be from Friday midday through Saturday midday when the wind blows from the west and west-northwest, which are the preferred directions for Steamboat. The snow total by Saturday afternoon should be 5-10 inches with the best powder likely on Saturday morning (though Friday last chair could be sneaky good if we get lucky with snow on Friday).

Storm #3: Sunday & Monday

This storm will track over southern Colorado and will generally miss Steamboat. Also, a wind blowing from the east on Sunday could great strong, gusty winds that may affect lift operations (often with a strong wind from the east, the Gondola is slowed or is closed).

Outlook

We might see additional light snow later next week around Friday-Saturday, December 7-8. Then the sun should return from about December 8-11. Models consistently show the next storm arriving around December 12th.
