Steamboat Daily Snow

Update
Friday will be a transition day between dry weather in the morning and stormy weather by the afternoon. Temperatures will start in the 30s, then expect a cold front to move through between about 1 pm – 4 pm. When the cold front arrives, temperatures will drop and we should see a burst of snow with a few inches of accumulation by sunset.
On Friday night, the wind direction will gradually shift to blow from the west, and as temperatures cool into the teens, this is a favorable setup for additional snow.
On Saturday morning and midday, the favorable setup for snow should continue with a wind from the west and west-northwest along with temperatures staying in the low teens.
Total snow from Friday night through Saturday should be 4-8+ inches and this will likely be enough to provide areas of fun powder across open terrain, though the strong wind speed forecasted during the day may feel uncomfortable at times, especially up around mid-mountain.
Also, the favorable setup of a west or west-northwest wind and temperatures in the lower teens has, in the past, led to much higher snow totals than you see in the forecast. It’s nearly impossible to know if we’ll get these deeper totals, but the setup looks favorable, so it will be fun to keep an eye on the summit snow stake camera.
Looking ahead to early December, here is what I am seeing.
Sunday and Monday should be dry and sunny.
Tuesday could bring more clouds and a chance for a few snow showers, though accumulations should be light or nothing.
Wednesday will be a dry day.
Thursday could offer light snow as a weak storm moves across Colorado.
Friday and Saturday will likely be dry.
Then a stronger storm could arrive on Saturday night and bring snow through Monday, December 9th.
Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
