Snow, snow, and more snow

Summary

Snow fell on Tuesday and Tuesday night, we'll briefly see drier weather through Thursday, then another storm will bring snow on Friday into Saturday.

Update

The weather pattern on Tuesday and Tuesday night was favorable for snow due to plenty of moisture in the air, lingering storm energy, and cooling temperatures.

Snowfall from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning was 6 inches at mid-mountain and a reported 12 inches at the summit.

The snow quality was pretty fluffy, so turns on Tuesday were fun, and turns on Wednesday morning should be fun as well.

On Wednesday, snow showers may continue through midday with some additional accumulation, then the snow should come to an end by Wednesday afternoon or evening.

From Wednesday night through Thursday night, we should see mostly dry weather, lots of clouds still in the sky, and we might also eke out a quick snow shower early on Thursday morning.

Then the next storm will bring snow from Friday midday through Saturday morning. My initial estimate is for 5-10 inches of accumulation with a low-ish chance for powder by Friday's last chair and a higher chance for powder on Saturday morning's first chair.

After that system, our next chance for a storm will be around January 11-12, then a stormy period could set up over the western U.S. and the Rockies starting around January 15 or January 16.
