Sunshine with snow in the longer-range forecast

Summary

Thursday through Sunday will be mostly sunny and warm, then we'll have two chances for snow next week.

Update

Wednesday turned out to be mostly cloudy as moisture lingered over far northern Colorado, and the sun only really came out later in the day toward sunset.

Now on Thursday morning, the temperature is colder at the base and warmer at mid-mountain and above, and the day will be mostly sunny with a high temperature in the 20s. Then on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we'll see mostly sunny skies each day with a high temperature in the 20s, and the higher sun angle of early February will allow the sun to make the air feel warmer and potentially soften or moisten the snow on south-facing slopes.

Our next chance for snow will be from Sunday night to Monday night. The storm responsible for this snow will split before it reaches Colorado, but the jet stream overhead may create a narrow band of more intense snow which could drop 3-6 inches of accumulation with low-end powder possible on Monday.

After that, there will be another chance for snow later in the week around February 9-10, and then I am still seeing a strong signal for storminess around the western U.S. from February 13-17, and this could mean more snow and potential powder days here in Colorado during that time.
