Snowy Saturday morning

Summary

Snow fell on Friday and Friday night, and the powder should be fun on Saturday morning before the spring sunshine turns it to mush.

Update

On Friday we saw about 4 inches of snow accumulate during the morning and midday, then on Friday night and an additional 1-2 inches of snow fell on the mountain.

This brings our storm's total snowfall to 6-9 inches, and there could be soft turns to be found now on Saturday morning where the new snow has effectively covered the crusty base. Get after this new snow early on Saturday while temperatures are in the teens, as following any lingering showers in the morning, we will likely see breaks of sunshine during the midday and afternoon, and this sunshine will quickly turn the new snow into mush.

On Sunday and Monday, sunshine will return and both days will feel like spring with a high temperature on Sunday in the 30s and a high temperature on Monday in the 40s.

The longer-range outlook shows us transitioning back into a stormy weather pattern with chances for snow starting on Tuesday afternoon or evening and continuing through around the middle of next week (April 26th). This is a good thing as cooler and stormier weather will slow the melt-out, and a gradual melt-out is what we want to see.
