Reminder: Open terrain is still limited across the mountain, and watch for more terrain to open during the coming days (Burgess Creek lift is the most recent opening).

Wednesday was sunny and warm with a high temperature in the 30s to low 40s.

Thursday will be a mixed day with more clouds and cooler temperatures with a high in the 20s. We might see a few snow showers during the day, but the odds of accumulating snow are low.

On Friday, a storm will move across Colorado. During the early morning hours, we might see some snow with light accumulations, though the latest forecast models show that most of this snow will stay just south of the mountain. From Friday midday through Friday afternoon and evening, snow showers will fire up and should deliver more chances for snow with at least a few inches of accumulation. And then on Friday night, snow showers may continue for a few hours past sunset, and then the showers will dissipate as the storm moves away and moisture wanes.

Total snowfall should be in the 3-6 inch range, with more than six inches if we see more snow than expected on Friday morning or if we get lucky and are in the direct path of multiple intense showers on Friday afternoon and evening. The softest snow should be on Friday afternoon and again on Saturday morning.

Temperatures on Friday will be in the teens with light winds, and temperatures on Saturday will be even cooler with a high in the upper single digits to low teens, some clouds, yet still light winds.

For the longer-term outlook, the weather pattern looks "meh" with no major storm cycles in sight. We might see a little snow early next week and also around Thursday, December 14 as storms move close to Colorado, and then perhaps a better chance of snow will arrive around the December 18-22 timeframe. With this outlook and the low December sun angle, we should see more terrain gradually open, but it might be a while before the majority of the mountain is open.
