Fresh snow on Wednesday and a lot more to come
Summary
The first storm of the cycle dropped snow on Tuesday night, and conditions will be soft on Wednesday morning.
Update
On Tuesday night, the first storm of the cycle delivered about 6 inches of snow across the mountain.
Wednesday will offer the 6 inches of snow from Tuesday night and we could see some additional accumulation on Wednesday morning as well. Temperatures will be in the single digits.
Thursday will likely bring another 4-8+ inches of snow with flakes falling on Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon. Conditions will be soft on soft. Temperatures will once again be in the single digits.
Friday will likely bring more snow. It's still a bit of a wildcard day as there is not one strong wave of storm energy but moisture and cold temperatures should combine to generate more snow. Perhaps we'll see 2-4 inches during the day. It'll also be windy. Temperatures will be in the single digits.
Saturday will likely offer more powder from 3-6+ inches that could fall on Friday night through Saturday. Temperatures will warm into the teens, and the gusty winds could continue.
Saturday night and Sunday will bring more snow 10-20 inches of accumulation. Sunday should have cooling temperatures into the single digits and slowing wind speeds, so powder quality could improve through the day.
Monday and Tuesday might bring more snow, or the storm could wind down. I am still not sure. Keep your eye on these days as they could be sensational powder days with fluff-on-soft conditions, but also, remember that the forecast will change and it'll take at least a few more days to dial in the details.
In the longer range, northern Colorado will be favored with additional storms maybe around Thursday and Friday, January 18-19, as well as sometime during the middle or end of the following week.
