Wind on Saturday, powder on Sunday and Monday
Summary
The main story from Friday through Saturday is the wind, and the good news is that the main story on Sunday and Monday will be the snow.
Update
Friday was cold and windy with summit temperatures in the single digits and wind gusts of 50+mph. We managed to eke out a few inches of new snow, but the main story was the wind.
Saturday
We'll see some snowflakes and a lot of wind. Temperatures will be rising through the single digits and winds will continue to gust to 40-60mph. It might be a tough day on the hill based on the wind and cold temperatures.
Saturday Night to Monday Night
This part of the storm will bring intense snow and slower winds. We should see 15-30+ inches of snow with snow starting on Saturday night, powder for first chair on Sunday, snow throughout the day on Sunday, more snow on Sunday night, and snow continuing into Monday with powder on Monday as well. Both Sunday and Monday should offer fun, soft conditions. There's even a chance that we'll see snow hang on through Monday evening, which would allow soft conditions to continue on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday
We'll see dry and cold weather with some sunshine on Tuesday. There will be soft powder leftovers, and the temperature will start below zero and warm into the single digits above zero.
Wednesday to Friday
The next storm should favor the northern mountains (that's us!) with snow starting at some point on Wednesday, January 17, and continuing through early Friday, January 19. We could see powder on Thursday with soft conditions lasting into Friday, and total snowfall could be in the double digits.
Longer Range
I think we'll head into a drier weather pattern during the final 10 days of January, though there will be a chance for more snow potentially around January 23-24.
