Dry and sunny this week, stormy this weekend

Summary

Tuesday through Friday will be dry, sunny, and warm, and then a strong storm will bring snow and wind during the weekend.

Update

Monday

On Monday and Monday night, we expected snow showers to pop up, but none brought accumulating snow to Steamboat and we saw only mostly cloudy skies.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

The rest of the week will be dry, mostly sunny, and warm.

The high temperature on Tuesday will be in the 30s, then we'll reach the 40s on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The wrinkle in the weather on Friday will be the chance for gusty winds during the midday and afternoon.

Snow conditions this week will be typical of springtime with a crunchy surface in the morning, soft/corn during the late morning and midday, and then some slush during the afternoon.

Weekend Storm

A strong storm will deliver intense snow on Saturday morning, and we should continue to see snow showers from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening. Total snowfall could be 6-12+ inches with possible powder on Saturday morning and soft conditions extending through Sunday. Strong winds could impact the snow quality and lift operations and that will be something we'll keep an eye on and talk more about when the storm is closer.

Longer Range

Following the weekend storm, the longer-range forecast is for drier weather. A storm will track near Colorado around Wednesday, April 10, though it appears that this system will be too far away to bring us much snow. Otherwise, I am penciling in mostly dry and somewhat warm weather between April 8 and mid-to-late April.

My next update will be Wednesday morning.
