Ramping up again in the West

Summary

An active pattern will return to the Western U.S. starting on Thursday with multiple storms expected over the next 10 days that will produce deep snow totals for many areas. The East will remain busy as well with a storm in the Mid-Atlantic Wednesday-Friday followed by a storm for the Northeast this weekend.

Short Term Forecast

Active pattern returns to the West late this week

After some brief lulls in the action during the early part of the week, multiple storms will impact the West over the next 5-10 days with deep totals adding up across the Cascades, Sierras, and Rockies. Check out our 5-Day Powder Finder, which shows the deepest 5-day snow forecasts and is updated multiple times per day.

Forecast for Wed, Feb 10 – Fri, Feb 12

A multi-day storm will impact the Mid-Atlantic from Wednesday through Friday with heavy snow possible across the mountains of West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland, but unfortunately, freezing rain and sleet could also mix in at times.

A big storm will move across the Western U.S. on Thursday and Friday with moderate to heavy snow expected across a large portion of the Cascades, Sierras, and Rockies with drier conditions north of the Canadian border.

Forecast for Sat, Feb 13 – Sun, Feb 14

Another storm will impact the West this weekend with the Coast Range, Cascades, and Sierras being most favored on Saturday and the Rockies most favored on Sunday. A storm will bring snow to the Northeast on Saturday night and Sunday as well.

Forecast for Mon, Feb 15

The storm train continues in the West with another storm arriving on Monday, which will bring moderate to heavy snow to the Pacific Northwest, while snow will also reach the Northern Rockies later in the day.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Tue, Feb 16 – Sat, Feb 20

An active northwest flow pattern is expected in the West with additional storms favoring the Pacific Northwest and the Rockies. Colder than average temperatures are also expected throughout the West. The pattern will remain active in the East as well with additional storms expected on a frequent basis.
