Next snow at Winter Park on Tuesday

Summary

Sunday and Monday will be sunny, then expect light snow on Tuesday and Wednesday with chilly high temperatures in the teens.

Short Term Forecast

Opening Day is now set for Thursday, December 3rd!

Saturday was another gorgeous day with clear blue skies and high temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. Yes, we want a lot of snow, but if it’s not going to snow, at least we’re seeing sunny skies and comfortable temperatures.

Sunday and Monday will bring more of the same with clear blue skies and high temperatures in the mid-20s.

From Tuesday morning through Thursday, a cold yet moisture-starved storm will impact Winter Park. Look for snow showers on Tuesday into Tuesday night with 1-5 inches of light, fluffy snow. The lack of moisture should keep the snow totals down, but the cold temperatures will make the snow fluffy, and a wind from the north and northeast is favorable. The best chance to ride any new snow will be on any ungroomed sections on Thursday’s opening day. Temperatures during Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be chilly with highs in the teens and maybe even single digits on Wednesday.

Extended Forecast

From Friday, December 4 through about Thursday, December 10, the forecast is for dry and warming weather with highs in the 30s to potentially low 40s. Thanks to the low sun angle in early December, we will be able to keep our high-elevation snow even during this stretch of dry weather.

The update to the forecast is that we now have a chance for a storm around December 11-13. This is far from a sure bet as the scenarios range from no snow to significant snow. But at least there’s a chance for an exciting storm. Do your snow dances!
