Winter Park Daily Snow
By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 2 years ago November 24, 2021
One to two inches on Tuesday night
Summary
We saw a little bonus snow on Tuesday night with 1-2 inches falling at mid-mountain and it's still snowing. The next few days will be chilly.
Update
Tuesday was warm and dry, then on Tuesday night, a cold front arrived as a disjointed storm moved into Colorado.
I was expecting very little snow as most of the moisture was forecast to stay to our south, but the atmosphere had other ideas. It looks like 1-2 inches accumulated at mid-mountain by Wednesday at sunrise and it's still snowing (the fuzziness in the image below is the snow falling).
On Wednesday, snowfall will continue through mid-morning then should wane by midday. Temperatures will be steady or cool throughout the day with readings in the teens on the hill. Temperatures will stay cold on Wednesday night and Thursday as well, so we'll have a solid 24-36 hour period of snowmaking coming up.
From Thanksgiving Day through the middle of next week, the storm track will stay to the north and we'll be left with dry weather, high temperatures in the 30s and 40s, and nighttime lows generally cold enough for snowmaking.
Our next chance for a storm will be around Friday, December 3, but that's too far away to have much (or any!) confidence in the details.
Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
