Sunny on Thursday, some snow on Friday
Summary
Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, then on Friday, the weather will flip to cooler temperatures and light snow.
Update
Wednesday was a gorgeous day on the mountain with sunny skies and highs in the 20s and low 30s.
Thursday will be another beautiful day with sunny skies, light winds, and comfortable temperatures that rise into the 30s. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week.
On Friday, a pretty strong storm will move over Colorado, but the storm will have little moisture. This means that we will see snow, but snow amounts will be light. Expect snowflakes to start falling during the morning, and we should see snow showers throughout the day, likely steadiest around midday and afternoon. Any lingering snow should end by Friday late evening or midnight. Total snowfall should be 1-4 inches, and a favorable wind from the northwest and north-northwest might help us to get to the higher side of that range. In addition to the snow, the other change in the weather will be the temperatures, which will be chilly and generally stay in the teens all day.
For the holiday weekend of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, we'll see sunny skies with high temperatures in the 20s. Snow conditions will be fine – our base is in good shape, most terrain is open, and the cool temperatures should keep the snow surface firm yet grippy.
Our next chance for snow will be sometime between Wednesday, January 19, and Saturday, January 22. During this time, one or two storms could brush Colorado as they pass by to our north and east. We will NOT be in a favorable weather pattern for significant snow, but perhaps we'll get lucky and see at least some flakes during these days.
