Sunday

Sunday will be similar to Saturday with cooler temperatures at the base in the morning. And then we'll see some high clouds filtering the sunshine during the day with a high temperature in the mid-30s.

December 23-31

For the rest of 2024, multiple storms will move through Colorado with a respectable total snowfall of potentially 8-14+ inches, and conditions should soften and improve. This is good news.

While no single storm in this series will likely bring significant/deep snow, the combination of light-to-moderate snow totals across the next nine days should create softer conditions.

• Monday/Tuesday (Dec 23-24). Light snow could fall from Monday during the day, and then there should be a period of more intense snow on Monday afternoon or Monday evening. I expect 1-3+ inches of accumulation with potentially softer conditions on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. Tuesday should be dry.
  
  
• Wednesday/Thursday (Dec 25-26). A stronger storm will track over southern Colorado. There should be 1-2 inches of snow during Wednesday midday and afternoon, and then another 1-3+ inches on Wednesday night. This should lead to softer conditions on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Thursday should be dry.
  
  
• Friday/Saturday/Sunday (Dec 27-29). Multiple storms will zoom across northern Colorado and will bring periods of snow. I have low confidence in the exact timing or amount of snow from each system, but I do have moderate confidence that total snowfall from Friday to Sunday could be 4-8+ inches and that conditions should soften and improve each day.
  
  
• Monday/Tuesday (Dec 30-31). A storm should track to the north, but the southern end of the system will likely bring snow to Colorado. The latest data is encouraging and I think that we will see snow from this storm with soft conditions continuing through New Year's Eve.

Longer Range

Sometime around Saturday/Sunday/Monday (Jan 4-6), multiple runs of multiple models are showing the chance for moderate or significant snow accumulation as moisture increases from the southwest and merges with storm energy and colder air from the west and northwest. Fingers crossed. We need this type of significant system to kick our snowpack upward and closer to the median.
