T-Storms Favoring Colorado, Eastern Rockies, & Interior Northwest

    5 hours ago Alan Smith

A series of low pressure troughs will lead to frequent rounds of showers & thunderstorms across parts of the Northwest & Northern Rockies. Colorado & Northern New Mexico will see more t-storms as well with monsoon moisture in place, while Utah & Arizona will remain very dry with little in the way of fire relief. The monsoon continues to look weak & inconsistent heading into August.

Daily Thunderstorm Chances Wednesday to Saturday

    12 hours ago Alan Smith

A more active pattern will develop during the second half of this week, though it has trended somewhat drier compared to yesterday's forecast. Still, we will see just enough moisture on the southern fringe of Pacific disturbances for daily t-storm chances. The highest chance of storms will be in the afternoon hours, but with upper level energy moving through, I wouldn't rule out overnight chances.

Final Post of the 2024-2025 Season

    3 months ago Alan Smith

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

La Niña delivered as forecasted. Next Season will be deep somewhere! It is always deep on the Chase Powder Forecast. This post recaps the season for 24/25.
