An impressive frontal system for August will move across the Northwest from Tue to Thu with widespread rain showers developing from the Olympics & Cascades to the Northern Rockies. In the Southwest and Colorado, a very weak monsoon will re-emerge later this week with only isolated thunderstorms. Drier-than-normal conditions & gusty winds are also fueling wildfire growth across this region.

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

This will be my final chase powder post for the 24/25 season. It has been an epic season in many areas, including northern Vermont and many northern/Central Rockies, Sierra, and Alaska spots.
