Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Colorado Daily Snow

Warm weather then more action late next week?

Summary:

  • Dry Friday and Saturday
  • Light snow along and north of I-70 on Sunday night into Monday
  • More significant snow possible next Wed/Thu and next weekend

Details:

The best way that I describe the weather over the next 7-10 days is "somewhat boring with a chance of something more interesting".

Between now, Friday, and next Tuesday, the brunt of the snow will fall to the north and west of us.

Colorado will get clipped from a storm along this northern track, so look for increasing clouds on Sunday from about Aspen north to I-70 and Steamboat, with light snow likely falling Sunday evening through Monday morning. Steamboat and Cameron Pass have the best chance of seeing 2-4 or 3-6 inches, while I-70 mountains might see 2-4 inches if lucky, and further south will see a few flakes but little to no accumulation. It'll be a thin band of snow that moves over northern Colorado Sunday night, so there is good potential for this forecast to change, higher (if things come together perfectly) or lower (if the band stays a bit further north).

The "chance of something more interesting" will happen around next Thursday-ish as weak energy but a lot of moisture moves in from the southwest. This could provide a few inches of snow to most mountains and favor southern Colorado with the highest totals. Still too far out for much confidence.

A similar system to the Thursday storm might move in for the first weekend in December (6-7th), again favoring the southern part of Colorado. This storm is still 8-9 days away, so no use in getting too excited, but since the American GFS, European, and Canadian models show this system, I actually have a bit more confidence in it compared to next Thursday's storm.

So...no confidence in any big storms during the next 10 days, but there will be a chance for snow in northern Colorado Sunday night into Monday, then perhaps snow next Thursday, and perhaps more next weekend. Maybe that's not so boring after all, and perhaps I'm just suffering from a food handover...
