Two more days of sun, then...

Summary:

Dry and sunny Friday through Saturday morning, rain and snow showers on Saturday night through Monday, likely dry Tuesday, then cooler with a good chance of accumulating snow in the mountains Wednesday into Thursday.

Details:

Enjoy today and Saturday morning! It'll be gorgeous out there with sunny skies, above-average temperatures, and beautiful leaves. I think a lot (not all) of the golden Aspen leaves will be on the ground by this time next week, so head out and see them now!

There will be a few showers on Saturday night, then a band of heavier showers (snow above 11,000-12,000ft) will move across the state on Sunday into Sunday night.

On Monday it'll be chilly with midday and afternoon clouds and showers and will feel like fall!

Tuesday and the beginning of Wednesday will likely turn drier, then a colder storm will move into Colorado from the northwest. Right now I'd say that we should expect snow sometime Wednesday night through Thursday night, likely falling down to or below 10,000ft in the mountains and perhaps down to some of the higher elevations of the eastern plains up against the foothills. The track of the storm is still uncertain, but the models are zeroing in on a solution. Here are the last four model runs from the Canadian model (most recent run on top) showing snow accumulations on Thursday 10/2. The more recent models show more snow, and while this trend will likely wobble around a bit, it's still a good trend:-)

Have a great Friday and and stay tuned through the weekend as I write updates about the cooler and hopefully snowy weather next week!
