A busy week of weather ahead!

Going to be a busy week of weather across the Upper Midwest with 3 different storms affecting us over the next 7 days, and the models disagreeing quite a bit on the track of all of them.

First up is the cold front currently pushing across Minnesota tonight that will be ushering out the warmer temperatures that we saw across the region this weekend. However, the cool down is coming a few hours later that it looked on Friday, so most likely will see less than an inch for most areas in Minnesota during the day on Monday. Looking further east, the cold front and below freezing temperatures weather will catch up with the moisture in Wisconsin, and therefore we expect to see snow totals in the 2-4" range once you cross over the border. Additionally, while the South Shore and UP will see rainfall to start out the day on Monday, by Monday evening and into Tuesday, a good combination of synoptic and lake effect snow will kick back in brining 3-6" of snow.

Snowfall for the Upper Midwest through Tuesday morning

After this first shot of snow, temperatures will continue to drop across the area on Tuesday and skies clear ahead of the clipper headed for the Upper Midwest on Wednesday. This is where things start to differ widely, so going to have a hard time pinning down solid numbers for now. The European has the clipper following I-94 bringing decent snowfall to central Minnesota and Wisconsin, and heavy lake effect snow to the UP. While the GFS has the clipper staying further north bringing more snow to the Northland and South Shore. Since this is a complete pattern change from the past week, having a hard time setting any bias, but based on what we saw last year would be more confident in the Euro's track. That being said, it's just a clipper, so amounts will still stay under a few inches.

Finally, looking past Thanksgiving, it looks like we could be on track for another clipper across the region on Friday night and into Saturday. Even being over a week out, the models show this storm as much more potent than the Thanksgiving Eve storm. So that being said, not confident in the snow totals it is showing, but confident that most places will be getting snow just in time for some holiday weekend skiing.

A busy week indeed! Hopefully you can sneak off from the family (or bring them with) and get a few turns in this week! Another update coming on Tuesday with how the Thanksgiving Eve clipper is progressing.
