The clipper train continues

Another "quiet" week with warmer temperatures still and a train of clippers diving through the Upper Midwest. However, still no large winter storm in sight to put some more snow on the ground.

After a dud of a clipper pushed through the Upper Midwest over the weekend, that storm now may go down in infamy as it is now the large Nor'easter making headlines to start the week on the east coast. Unfortunately it decided to not dump 2-3 feet of snow here.

Looking to the week ahead, things look for the most part quiet again with the continuous train of clippers pulling through various parts of the region, but bringing nothing more than a quick inch or two of snow. Currently our first clipper of the week is pulling through northern Minnesota and into central Wisconsin during the day Monday. This has brought quite the split to our region, with temperature in the 20s and snowflakes in the air in Wisconsin and the UP, while Minnesotans are seeing partly cloudy skies and temperatures racing towards 40 today.

Total snowfall for the week through Saturday night. Looks more impressive than it is.

The next clipper will push through the region on Wednesday night, following a similar track to the one today. The European model has the clipper a bit further to the west, so we will probably not see as warm of temperatures in Minnesota as we are today, but the snow once again should stay in the northern and eastern parts of the Upper Midwest.

Finally, another clipper takes aim for Friday night and Saturday, and once again a week out the models are feeling optimistic about this being a bigger snow generator. Since we are still over 5 days our and we saw how the past two weeks have gone, not getting my hopes up at all on it being a big snow maker. However, the monthly models have been indicating at this clipper finally pulling some arctic air back into the region to bring our temperatures back to normal to start out next week. Not putting all of my chips on the table for this one, but there is finally some agreeance on the pattern changing slightly.

Departure from normal temperatures for next week... or a return to normal for the Upper Midwest

Regardless of the lack of snow, still plenty of man made stuff on the runs, and the calm winds and warmer temperature will feel great sitting on the lift. Have a great week everyone!
