Periods of Showers Friday

Summary

Snow showers continue to impact the mountains across the state this week. A period of moderate snow will move through on Wednesday producing some more significant accumulations. We’ll dry out this weekend and for the early part of next week before active weather returns to the Northwest.

Short Term Forecast

Snow showers have continued this week but only modest accumulations have been observed so far. A more organized round of snow showers is on tap for today, Wednesday, bringing 2 - 6 in across the Cascades. Additional showers with minor accumulations will continue in the eastern part of the state.

From Wednesday night through Friday we’ll see more snow showers. Snow levels remain in the 3-4K foot range, resulting in mostly snow showers. Some rain may mix in at the lower elevations at times.

A ridge then develops over the Northwest this weekend, putting an end to the active and showery weather we’ve been experiencing this week. This ridge will stick around for the early part of next week as well.

Extended Forecast

Around the middle of next week, the ridge starts to break down and the storm door reopens. The latest guidance shows a more inland storm track developing. This pattern typically puts Washington on the dry side with these moisture starved storms. We’re still a week out from this potential event so there’s plenty of time for a westward trend.
