Dry for a Bit, but Staying Cool

Summary

The latest storm dropped a few inches of snow across the Washington resorts over the last few days, giving a modest refresh to the slopes. We'll stay dry through the end of the week before another small storm moves through the region Saturday night. A return to more typical Spring weather is expected next week and beyond.

Short Term Forecast

Snow totals over the last few days ranged from 1 - 4 in across the state, with the summit of Alpental coming out on top. Temperatures will stay cool over the next few days in the wake of the passage of the cold front.

Another weak storm will cross the state this weekend, bringing a few inches of snow. Temperatures will start to climb early next week and it will soon feel like Spring again.

By the middle of next week, the next storm approaches the western US. The latest guidance suggests this storm will track through the Northwest, bringing another round of showers through the end of the week. This storm looks warmer than some of the recent ones, so this is looking like a mainly rain event until the tail end of the storm. We're still a week or more out on this one though, so I won't get into too many details just yet.

Below you can see the two storms moving through the Northwest this weekend and in the middle of next week.

Extended Forecast

In the long-range, we should see another ridge developing in the western US following the mid-week storm. It's not clear just yet how long that ridge will stick around and keep us dry.

Thanks for reading the Washington Daily Snow!

Next post on Saturday.
