New snow on Monday morning

Summary

Sunday night's storm delivered only 2 inches of snow at 5 am with more snow falling by the time lifts open. We'll see snow showers continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before warmer weather returns later this week and during the upcoming weekend.

Update

Sunday

Sunday was mixed with some snow showers and mostly dry weather.

Sunday Night

On Sunday night, the storm strengthened to our east, and a lot of snow fell across most of Colorado, but we only saw 2 inches at mid-mountain as of 5 am on Monday.

It's possible that the thunderstorms to our east on Sunday created the lower-than-expected snow totals.

Monday

On Monday, more snow will accumulate by the time lifts open as I see closer to 4 inches as of 630 am. While we will likely see clouds and snow showers during the day, any breaks of sunshine will quickly hurt the snow quality due to the high angle of the late March sunshine. The high temperature should be in the upper teens.

Tuesday & Wednesday

On Tuesday and Wednesday, snow showers and clouds will stick around and we may see a few inches of accumulation on Tuesday, again on Tuesday night, and during the first half of Wednesday. While the amount of new snow may not be that deep, the quality of the snow surface could stay soft and fun as long as the snow showers and clouds prevent us from seeing much sunshine. The high temperature will be around 20°F on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

These four days will be warmer with a high temperature in the 30s. We may see times clouds and snow showers during these days, but I think most of the time will be dry and at least partly sunny. It'll be back to feeling like spring.

Longer Range

The next storm should bring snow to Colorado from Monday, April 1 to Wednesday, April 3. The latest forecasts show this system tracking south of Colorado, and this storm track can bring a moderate amount of snow to Winter Park. After that system, we could see another storm between Friday, April 5, to Sunday, April 7.

My next update will be Tuesday morning.
