Wavering

Update

Saturday will be our final day of dry weather until the second half of next week. Mid-mountain temps will be in the 20s to low 30s under partly sunny skies in the morning and increasing cloud coverage during the afternoon.

Our next weather-maker will then slide into Breckenridge by Saturday evening and we should begin to receive our first flakes between 7 PM and 10 PM.

Confidence has really wavered with this storm as the models can not get a firm grip on the details. The one big positive is A LOT of moisture but the negatives include a southerly wind and warm temps. This leads me to believe that we could receive a wide range of totals from Saturday night through Sunday.

In total, look for 2-6 inches from Saturday night through Sunday evening. We could receive more and we could receive less so stay tuned to the snow stake cam to see how the storm plays out. Sunday afternoon will likely be the best time to ride as the conditions soften up throughout the morning.

Following a slight break on Sunday night, a completely different storm will slide into Colorado from the northwest on Monday and bring us periods of light to moderate snowfall and much colder temps through Tuesday. Not an overly impressive storm but it will continue to help freshen up the conditions after multiple days of snow.

Look for an additional 2-5 inches from Monday morning through Monday night, followed by light snow showers and very light additional totals through Tuesday. Mid-mountain temps will be in the teens on Monday and only into the low single-digits on Tuesday so plan to bundle up.

Following the fun from Saturday night through Tuesday, we'll turn over to dry and milder pattern as we head into the second half of the week and into the following weekend. Mid-mountain temps will gradually warm each day, with sunny skies and temps in the 30s likely returning for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Looking further ahead, the longer-range models continue to bring "something" through the western US around Monday, March 2nd, followed by an active pattern as we head into the first 10 days of March. We shall see...

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for daily updates!
