Sunny and Warm then Snow for Sunday
Summary
High-pressure will deliver a couple of bluebird days Friday and Saturday along with warm spring temperatures across the entire Rockies. Big changes occur Saturday night into Sunday as a robust cold front advances north to south through the Rockies bringing accumulating snow in the 10 to 25cm range through last chair on Sunday. High-pressure returns for the first half of next week.
Short Term Forecast
Friday: Sunny skies and warm with afternoon highs at 2500m of 2 to 4C. Moderate NE winds becoming light during the afternoon.
Saturday: One more day of high-pressure dominance will bring another blue sky day across the Rockies. Highs at 2500m 2 to 4C. Light NW winds will become moderate in the afternoon to 40 kph.
Sunday: A strong cold front will surge through the Rockies in a north to south direction bringing snow from Jasper to Banff overnight Saturday. Freeze levels will start off high Saturday night but quickly drop to valley levels by Sunday morning. Overnight accumulations look to be around 10cm at Marmot with slightly lighter amounts at the Banff/Lake Louise resorts. Snow looks to continue Sunday, heavy at times with another 10 to 15cm by Sunday evening. Colder with highs of -2 to -5C across the high country at 2500m. Light to moderate north winds.
Extended Forecast
Extended Forecast:
After a few lingering clouds and flurries Monday morning, high-pressure reestablishes itself for the first half of the coming week. Expect sunny skies Monday through Wednesday along with a gradual warming trend.
With the 20/21 season winding down, I will now be posting one Alberta Daily Snow discussion per week on Friday mornings (best for those weekender ski and boarding outings). Thanks for reading!
