Storm Update

Update

It’s Saturday morning and I wanted to give a quick update about this weekend’s storm.

Radar shows showers over southern and central Colorado. Many of the showers over central Colorado are not reaching the ground because the air is too dry (the snow or rain evaporates before it hits the ground).

Webcams show that some snow has accumulated in the southern mountains:

I also saw snow around Wolf Creek, though the nearby CDOT webcams just went down so I don’t have a picture to show.

In central Colorado, Monarch is beginning to pick up some snow:

And in northern mountains, we are still waiting for any snow showers to accumulate. Something else about the northern mountains: I am excited to say that we now show all of Copper Mountain’s webcams on our site, and this includes the snow stake camera:

You can find all of these cameras here: https://opensnow.com/location/copper

Soon, I will add new webcams and delete broken webcams for all Colorado mountains, so expect more updates like what we did with Copper Mountain.

Looking ahead...

For the rest of Saturday and Saturday night, look for continued showers in southern Colorado with showers developing for the central and northern mountains. Not all areas will see snow and rain at all times, but most mountains should get some flakes above 10,000-11,000 feet by Sunday morning. The southern mountains will likely get at least 3-6 inches with just a couple of inches in the northern and central mountains.

Sunday will be drier than Saturday for most mountains with a few clouds and a sprinkle / flurry.

For next week and beyond, see the “Extended Forecast” section of my previous post: http://opensnow.com/dailysnow/colorado/post/6216

Thanks for reading!
