Friday was dry and sunny, and Friday night was dry as well.

Then right on schedule, snow began to fall on Saturday around sunrise, and the snow is ongoing as I type this on Saturday morning.

Because the snow started falling just after the 500am snow report, the report shows 0 inches of new snow, but there is already a coating of snow on the snow stake as of 800am. Since snow will continue throughout the morning and maybe into the afternoon as well, we'll see more accumulation with total snowfall during the day in the 2-4 inch range (this is a little lower than what I mentioned in yesterday's forecast). Saturday will be a fun day to be on the hill with softening conditions thanks to the fresh snow. To aid with visibility while riding in a snowstorm, stick to areas in or close to trees as the contrast will help you to gain more perspective on the snow surface.

Saturday night will transition back to dry weather.

Then on Sunday, look forward to brilliantly sunny skies, cold morning temperatures in the single digits, and then somewhat warmer temperatures by midday and early afternoon which will rise into the low 20s.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will also be dry with warmer high temperatures around 30 degrees. While Monday's skies will be clear and sunny, we could then see some high and thin clouds filtering the sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our next chance for snow will start on Thursday, January 13, and extend to Saturday, January 15. The chance for any snow during these days is low, and the chance for significant snow during these days is even lower. We will be between a stronger storm to the south and a stronger storm to the north, and while the odds for big snow are not good, maybe the atmosphere will trend our way a little bit and we can get lucky.
