Cooler temperatures coming up, and some snow on Friday

Summary

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be chillier with highs in the 20s and teens, then we could see some snow on Friday.

Update

Monday was mostly sunny with comfortable high temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s.

On Monday night, the skies remained clear, and thanks to a full moon and plenty of snow cover, the nighttime looked more like daytime.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the main weather story will be cooler temperatures which will top out in the 20s on Tuesday and in the teens on Wednesday and Thursday. There is a small chance for a few flakes on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday night, though I expect little to no accumulation as most of the moisture and storm energy will stay east of the mountains and over the eastern plains of Colorado.

Friday will be our best chance for measurable snowfall. The storm track from north-to-south (or even northeast-to-southwest) is not a favorable setup for a lot of snow, but we could sneak out at least a few inches on Friday midday, afternoon, and evening from a wind direction that will initially be favorable, from the northwest. Then the snow should end by late Friday night or Saturday morning.

Looking farther ahead, the weekend of January 22-23 should be dry, we could see light snow around January 25-26, and then as we head into February, a stormier weather pattern should develop over the western US and the Rockies and this will significantly increase our odds for sizable snowstorms.
