A Break Wed-Thu, Weak Systems Fri-Sun...

Summary

A break for Wednesday - Thursday. Weak systems could move through Friday-Saturday. Light snow is possible for Saturday night - Sunday night. The next significant storm could move through on the 21st-22nd, with another possible around the 24th-25th.

Update

Wednesday - Thursday:

Clearing Wednesday with improving travel conditions through the morning. The break in the storms is expected to continue through Thursday night.

Weekend Systems:

A weak splitting system could bring some clouds and a few scattered rain and snow showers through the region Friday into Saturday. Expecting little if any travel impacts.

A weak storm moves through Saturday night through Sunday night. We could see light snow with up to a few inches over Donner Summit. Snow levels fluctuate between 6000-7000 ft. If the snow falls during the day the high sun angle could keep the roads mostly wet. Maybe some light accumulations during the overnight hours.

Carry chains and be prepared for possible chain controls over Donner Pass between Saturday night and Sunday night.

Long-Range:

The long-range models show the storm door remaining open through the last week of March. We'll keep an eye out for any storms that could affect travel. The next storm that could have higher impacts is showing up on the models around the 21st-22nd, and another around the 24th-25th. We'll continue to watch the trends with more details as we get closer.
