Snow Tuesday with More Storms After...

Summary

Clearing Sunday with mostly sunny skies for Monday. A stronger storm moves in Tuesday with snow showers lingering into Wednesday. Partly sunny Thursday and Friday with a chance for scattered snow showers. The next storm moves through Saturday with more snow. Snow showers are possible next Sunday into the week of the 3rd. A drier pattern is possible by the 2nd week of April.

Update

Sunday - Monday:

Clearing Sunday with a dry pattern expected into Monday Night.

Tuesday - Wednesday Storm:

A storm moves in early Tuesday morning with snow showers  becoming heavy snow by midday Tuesday into the evening. Snow showers Tuesday night could continue into Wednesday before clearing out Wednesday night.

Be prepared for heavy snow, chain controls, and slow travel Tuesday through Tuesday night. Snow levels will be fairly low by Tuesday afternoon, so chain controls could extend from at least Blue Canyon to the NV state line at times.

By Wednesday with the scattered snow showers, the roads could become just wet during the day.

Thursday - Saturday:

We could see some scattered snow showers Thursday into Friday but mostly dry. Any daytime snow showers will likely just bring wet roads. Watch for possible slick spots at night.

Saturday Storm:

Saturday morning into Saturday night the next storm could bring some steady snow to the northern Sierra, with several inches over Donner Pass. The snow could be heavy enough for daytime accumulations over Donner Pass and chain controls.

Expect conditions to become colder and icier after the sun goes down on Saturday with possible chain controls over Donner Pass into Truckee through Saturday night.

Long-Range:

The latest long-range model runs show snow showers possibly continuing into next Sunday the 2nd, with additional weak systems bringing more snow showers through the week of the 3rd.

We could finally start to see a drier pattern developing around the weekend of the 8th-9th.
