West of the Divide rides the snow train…again.

Update

West of the Divide:

Saturday has seen some nice snow totals across the NW part of the region. Whitefish skied great today with about 6” light pow on top of 6” overnight. Lookout Pass also had a powdery day with over a foot overnight and today. Lost Trail to the south received 4” today on top of a few inches last night for some great riding conditions. Saturday night the snow keeps a coming with literally an atmospheric river taking over areas along and north of I-90 with the far NW areas getting the brunt of the moisture. Expect another 8” +  at Whitefish and Lookout and even Snowbowl, Blacktail, and Lost Trail may possibly see 6”. Sunday – a warm front invades rising snow levels to around 4500-5000’ with wetter snow, fog and another several inches for NW and West Central areas. Monday a lull in the weather then things get real serious Tuesday – Thursday with a very moist cold front that looks to lay down some cold smoky powder for the mid-weekers. Maybe call in sick Wednesday…. Stay tuned.

Dumping all day at Whitefish Saturday...

East of the Divide:

Below seasonal cold temps continue overnight Saturday with a few snow showers mainly at Big Sky with maybe an inch or two. Sunday morning, look for the next wave coming over the Divide with the effects of the warm front rising temps across the SW mountains as well as activating increased snow showers with another 1-2” possible at Big Sky and a bit less at Maverick Mountain further south. Showdown just east of Great Falls could also see 1-3” overnight. Cloudy Monday then things change Tuesday – Friday with a strong cold front and an active NW flow looking to deliver at least a few inches each day. The following weekend is starting to look like an arctic push might trigger a bigger storm for the Eastsider’s. I’ll do my best to keep you all updated on how next week’s NW flow and the potential big weekend storm pans out…
