Decent Spring Storm in the cards for Midweek – mainly East of the Divide

Update

WEST of the Continental Divide:

A weak cold front is tracking into the region Tuesday night and Wednesday with a slight chance of 1-2” inches at Whitefish but no real accumulations anywhere else. Snow levels on Tuesday will be around 4500’ with daytime high temps around 40. Clearing skies on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will deliver mostly sunny skies for the day Wednesday. Clouds will increase Wednesday late afternoon when another cold front enters the region with snow showers that look to maybe bring 2-4” at Lost Trail with a skiff to an inch elsewhere. The cold front interacts with additional moisture on Thursday for areas around and south of I-90 with anywhere from 2-6” possible (higher amounts likely at Lost Trail) on Thursday. High temps Thursday will be much cooler in the mid to upper 30’s across the region. Friday will be a mix of clouds and sun with cooler temps sticking around with highs in the upper 30’s. Saturday looks mostly sunny, slightly warmer and high temps back to around 40 before unsettled spring showery conditions return for Sunday. Unsettled and cool temps will last into early next week.

EAST of the Continental Divide:

Tuesday looks to be a mix of sun and clouds with mountain highs around 38- 42 across the region. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be largely uneventful before moisture from a vigorous Pacific weather system streams into the SW mountains with snow showers starting late Wednesday afternoon. Snow intensifies Wednesday night into Thursday with some impressive accumulations of 5-10” possible at Bridger and Big Sky by last chair. Slightly less totals are expected at Great Divide and Showdown. High temps on Thursday will hover just below freezing at 8000’ across the region. Snow continues Thursday night with another 2-6” at Big Sky and Bridger with 3-5” at Red Lodge. A few snow showers will hang around Friday morning but it will largely be a clearing day with continued cold daytime high temps around 26-30. High-pressure builds on Saturday for mostly sunny skies through Sunday before the clouds and snow showers return Sunday night that will continue unsettled conditions into early next week.
