Montana Daily Snow

Arctic Air + Pacific Moisture = Big-time POW for NW Montana!
Summary
West of the Divide, the Wednesday morning reports had Lookout Pass with 20” new, Snowbowl with 12”, Whitefish 6”and Lost Trail 8” and it’s continuing to dump. The snow has not made it over to the East side of the Divide quite yet but expect light snow to start later in the day at Big Sky. Snow will just keep coming on the West side with the weather transitioning to a zonal or westerly flow of very moist Pacific air being driven in by a robust jet stream aloft. Expect another 6-14” across the West tonight and all day Thursday. Thursday night into Friday all the models are agreeing on arctic air pushing east to west over the Divide and giving mainly northwest Montana a March storm to remember. Arctic air overriding warm and moist air will produce copious amounts (12-24”) of cold smoke powder for Whitefish on Friday. East side resorts on the North/Central side of the region still are on target for about a foot or more by Friday morning with 4-8” possible at Big Sky, Bridger Bowl and Red Lodge.
