Deep early season snowpack, latest totals, opening dates
Update
Welcome to the 2018-2019 season!
Let’s forget about the lack of snow last season and celebrate the deep early-season snowpack that we have now in early November.
The latest storm on November 11-12 dropped the following snow totals (not all resorts are reporting, so some of these numbers are estimates).
Red River: 16”
Angel Fire: 13”
Taos: 13”
Ski Santa Fe: 12”
Sipapu: 4-8” (estimate)
Pajarito: 3-6” (estimate)
Sandia Peak: 2-4”
Ski Apache: 1-3”
The scene at Ski Santa Fe looks like mid-winter. Woohoo!
Thanks to this most recent storm plus a few storm cycles in October and early November, our snowpack is in great shape, well above average in the northeastern mountains.
Looking ahead, most weather forecast models show dry weather for the next 7-10 days, and then we should transition back to a stormier pattern starting around Thanksgiving.
Below are the opening dates for each mountain, subject to change, of course.
Angel Fire: December 14th
Pajarito: December 21st
Red River: November 21st
Sandia Peak: December 22nd
Sipapu: November 16th
Ski Apache: Unknown
Ski Santa Fe: November 22nd
Taos: November 22nd
Thanks for reading!
My next update will be on Monday, November 26th and starting then I will be posting every Monday and Thursday throughout the season.
