Spring is Here?!

Summary

Sunny and dry weather through the weekend. Temps will rise to the mid to upper 40's by Sunday. A weak system brings wind and clouds on Monday with a chance for a dusting of snow. By the middle of next week we could see more warming and drier conditions that could govern the weather for the better half of the next 10 days.

Short Term Forecast

Friday through Sunday

It looks like yesterday's snow showers didn't amount to a whole lot. I wasn't expecting much, but looks like the resorts didn't add any more to their totals, partially because of the high sun angle in March causing potentially any snow that did fall to melt by the measurement this morning.

Spring is definitely starting this weekend. Take a look at the weather and temps at Mt. Baldy over the next 5 days.

Friday through Sunday we have warming temps into the mid 40's. Lighter winds under 25 MPH during that time as well with lots of sunshine.

Enjoy the Spring weather as the conditions are perfect for getting out there and ripping it!

Monday & Tuesday

You can see on the forecast above that the winds pick up Sunday and they stay strong on Monday up to 50 MPH out of the West. Temps drop rapidly as well into the low 30's! Spring is short lived for us this weekend. I mentioned yesterday the possibility of a weak system that comes through the region on late Sunday through Tuesday. Well.. its' weakening even more and we are now likely to not get much more out of it other than clouds, wind, and a dusting to an inch of snow across the region.

At this time it's becoming a non event for us. If that changes I will update you as we go through the weekend. I'm thinking the biggest effects will be the winds on Monday and the very cold temperatures for this time of year on Monday & Tuesday with highs as low as the 20's on Tuesday.

Extended Forecast

Next week is rapidly becoming drier on the models. You can see on the Ensemble Means for precip on the GFS and Euro that they show very little making it's way to us over the next 10 days.

The Euro, which had a trough over our region later next week is now shifting course and showing a ridge.

This is more in line with what the GFS was showing the last few days. We'll see how this plays out but I'm thinking Spring might be sticking around more so than not going into the middle of April.

Till the next one... Mike out.
