Update

Sunday

Compared to previous days, the temperature is much warmer on Sunday morning with readings of 15-20F across the mountain. There will be a better chance for some sunshine in the morning, midday highs will be in the low-to-mid 20s, and then expect more clouds and maybe a snow shower later in the day.

Fresh snow on Monday morning

Snow should arrive around or just after sunset on Sunday night and continue through early Monday morning. I think 4-8 inches is a good estimate for what we’ll measure on Monday morning, so there will be soft turns to enjoy on the last day of 2018.

During the day on Monday, the wind will blow from the east, which might cause gusty conditions and this could slow the gondola. A wind from the east usually means no snow at Steamboat, but the storm might send a piece of energy back over northern Colorado, which could bring additional snow showers.

High temperatures on Monday will be cold, in the single digits, so dress warmly!

Tuesday through Saturday

We will see dry and sunny weather for the start of 2019. Tuesday will be the coldest day of this stretch with high temperatures in the single digits. Wednesday should warm into the teens, then we’ll see highs in the 20s and 30s from Thursday through Saturday.

Next chance for snow

A plume of moisture will move into Colorado from the southwest and this should bring snow back into the forecast for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (January 6-8).

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
