Monday will start with cloudy skies and dry weather.

Then the storm will arrive with snow showers possibly starting around midday or early afternoon, and the most intense snow should fall after sunset on Monday night.

This storm will strengthen as it moves over Colorado, which is good, but unfortunately the track of the storm will mean that the mountain will see a period of winds from the east on late Monday night and Tuesday morning, and an east wind is not good for snow.

Because of this, I am dropping my forecast just a bit, down to 4-8 inches. Tuesday morning should still offer some fresh powder, but I am going to keep my expectations on the lower end simply due to the period of an unfavorable wind direction. When you head out on Tuesday morning, dress warmly because temperatures will be in the single digits to low teens.

Snow showers should end by Tuesday afternoon and we’ll be dry through Wednesday.

The second storm of the week should bring times of light snow on Thursday, with a higher chance for significant snow from Thursday night through Saturday morning. My early estimate is for 4-10 inches from this system, and the best chance to enjoy powder will be during the day on Friday and also on Saturday morning.
