Next snowfall on Tuesday at Steamboat

Summary

On Sunday we saw just a dusting of new snow. Monday will be dry, then the next storm will bring snow during most of the day on Tuesday.

Short Term Forecast

Sunday started dry, then we saw a few snow showers on Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening. These showers amounted to a dusting to a coating of snow across the mountain.

Monday will be a dry day with plenty of sunshine and comfortable afternoon temperatures rising into the upper 20s.

On Tuesday, expect snowflakes to start falling around sunrise with snow throughout the day and into Sunday evening, lasting until possibly midnight. I am going to stick with the ongoing forecast of 3-6 inches and the softest turns should be on Tuesday afternoon. If we can keep the snow going on Tuesday evening after lifts close, then potentially Wednesday morning’s first turns could be soft as well.

Extended Forecast

There will be four more chances for storms during the next two weeks.

On Friday, January 8th, a weak system could bring just light snow.

On Saturday, January 9th, a somewhat stronger storm could bring more snow, but its track may not be favorable for deeper totals.

On Tuesday, January 12th, a storm might sneak into Colorado from the north. If this does not happen, then we’ll be looking at dry weather for about six days from Sunday, January 10th through Friday, January 15th.

Then on Saturday, January 16th, there will be a potential for a stronger storm tracking into Colorado from the northwest. This system is still 12 days away, but since multiple models are in agreement about a storm moving near Colorado around that time, I wanted to at least make a mention of the possibility.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
