Snow Sunday night at Steamboat

Summary

Sunday will be dry, then the next storm will bring snow on Sunday night into Monday morning. Another storm should arrive next weekend, January 23-24.

Short Term Forecast

Saturday morning offered soft turns with 2-5 inches of accumulation across the mountain. Then the rest of Saturday and Saturday night was dry.

Now on Sunday, we’ll see dry weather for most of the day with partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the teens and 20s.

On Sunday evening, Sunday night, and into Monday morning, the next storm should bring a period of snow with accumulations between 2-5 inches. This should lead to softer turns on Monday morning, just like we experienced on Saturday morning.

Then Monday afternoon through Friday should be mostly dry with comfortable temperatures reaching into the 20s. There will be a chance for a few flakes now and again during the week as some moisture and energy cruises over Colorado, though I am not expecting any meaningful accumulation.

Extended Forecast

The next storm should bring snow from later Friday through Sunday, January 24th.

Within this time, it’s likely that our best chance for deeper totals and powder would be later in the weekend, around the 24th, and maybe spilling over into Monday the 25th.

This storm is not yet locked in since we are still about one week away and the forecast will likely change at least a little bit. But this is a rather large and strong storm that all models have been forecasting for at least a few days, so my confidence is pretty high for snowfall to arrive next weekend.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
